Adrianne Baker
Adrianne was born in Colombia, South America and grew up in NJ. She came to Chicago for a one year work assignment in 1993 and never left! She has called LaSalle home for 18 years but the relationship actually goes back 24 years to 1996 when she and Jason were married in the LSC sanctuary. During her time at LSC Adrianne has served on the Board of CCLC (2006-2013 and 2016-2018), taught Sunday school & children’s church, served on the church’s HR advisory committee 2005-2008 and is currently a greeter. Adrianne works at CNA Financial in the loop where she is Director, HR Business Partner. She and Jason have 2 kids Jacob (19) and Bella (16) and live in Oak Park.
Scott Blim
I have been attending LaSalle for a little over 30 years. It is the only church home I've ever known. My wife, Verily, and I were married in this church on April Fools Day in 1989, and each of our three kids (Taylor, Charlie & Josh) were dedicated and baptized here (or in Lake Michigan). For many years my wife and I taught various grades of Sunday School (where at least of few of those kids are now married and with child, which doesn't make me feel old at all). We co-led the Word in the World group together for a few years, where I borrowed prodigiously from materials gathered from my Bible Study Fellowship involvement (shush, don't tell anyone). I've previously served on the boards of LSC, TLF, and CCLC because I enjoy giving back to the church family that has given me so much more. Over the last few years I've had the pleasure of being a volunteer tennis coach at the local high schools my kids attended, and more recently I had the distinct displeasure of having to admit I can no longer compete well against my two sons in that sport I helped them learn. For much of my professional life I was a CFO in the investment advisory industry, and currently I'm an accountant with Alta Via Consulting.
Jeliner Jordan
Jeliner Anna Jordan is a retired mother who has been an active member of LaSalle for seven years. During that time, she’s served on multiple committees, nominating committees, coordinated Breaking Bread and assisted with Senior Market, and assisted with NNUP.
Jane Lambshead
Since childhood, in suburban DC, I have had a heart for 'the poor and oppressed', as well as an interest in other cultures. In college I explored those interests in a variety of ways, including majoring in Sociology & Anthropology. In high school, I came to personally know Jesus; that faith deepened in college, as my non-academic college 'major' became the efforts of a small group of us to establish the Middlebury Christian Fellowship (associated with IVCF). My concern for the racial injustices in our country moved to a deeper level when I was a part of Circle Church, and lived in the Austin neighborhood on the west side of Chicago for 14 years.
I started coming to LaSalle 16 years ago, and it didn't take me long to become a member! LSC was such a good fit for me, living out what I believed in: authentic, dedicated believers in Jesus committed to racial and social justice; the people as well as worship services were inclusive of a variety of denominational practices, and a variety of cultures and ethnicities. And thanks to many at LSC I became inspired and then financially supported to spend the year of 2012 teaching orphans in a Kenyan fishing village.
For 2 decades I taught primary students in Oak Park where I raised my 3 children, Dot, Beth and Jeremy. Now they're grown, and I have 5 grandchildren, 3 of whom live a bike-ride away. Though I had a failed marriage, I feel very blessed by my connections with my biological family, my faith family, and my larger neighborhood. And I still love trying to install a love of reading and learning in children; I love the out-of-doors: fun activities as well as working in my little yard. And I even, kind-of, enjoy being the 'handywoman' who is trying to renovate my old house.
Steve Searles
Married to my better half Charlotte, father of four with six grandchildren, this summer marks the fifth year that we’ve been attending LaSalle. I was convinced during my first visit that LaSalle was the place for me after hearing Terry Truax eloquently and honestly articulate the inequities in our criminal justice system.
I’ve spent decades as a construction manager and was formerly the VP of Operations at Provident Hospital. I currently own a real estate development firm and consturction company. My true passion is GMP Labs, a non-profit workforce development firm I co-founded. GMP Labs serves the West side of Chicago providing training and job opportunities to young African-American youth.
Isaac Steiner
Raised in Sacramento, California, Isaac married Alison (also from Sacramento) several years after both met at Westmont College, where Isaac studied applied visual arts and Alison studied music. He and Alison moved to Chicago in 2011 and have been attending LSC since Dec 2018.
Professionally, as a product designer at DocuSign, Isaac partners with engineers and business leaders to build technology solutions that are both usable and useful. Beyond technology, Isaac maintains an enduring enthusiasm for the visual, language and performing arts – not to mention the art of flavor through craft cocktails.
More urgently, Isaac continues his detangling from the benefits of white privilege thanks to the grace of Christ and the family here at LaSalle Street Church. He is grateful for the daily examples of being present in body, heart and mind to the work of the Holy Spirit in this time.
(Isaac also takes notes on just about everything and this bio probably reflects his 12th draft – which perhaps could help him be a decent Clerk.)
